Velvet rolls are packed in suspended type cardboard boxes to ensure that no part of the roll rests against the box wall. The boxes are heavy walled and sea-worthy. Still, owing to the pile structure of velvet, it is intrinsically impossible to prevent the velvet from pressure marks.
These pressure marks are actually reflection of light on different tilt angles of pile. However, these pressure marks disappear after a certain time of acclimatization, after being made-up and hung. During this time, the pile fibers take back their natural position and tilt at uniform angles.
Always store the rolls suspended on both ends. Never store the rolls in standing position as this will crush the fabric sides.
